On Sunday, February 28, Obscure Games Pittsburgh will host a Human Curling Tournament at the West Penn Recreation Center, 470 30th St in Polish Hill. As usual, we’ll play from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm (and be sure you show up on-time for this one). Registration is open to anyone age 18 and over, but there are a limited number of spots. Individuals or teams of up to four participants can register below.
Played in a gymnasium, teams take turns pushing players in swivel chairs across the gym floor, scoring points for accuracy and distance. Teams position players strategically in order to pull off complicated ricochets and other high-scoring plays, while simultaneously trying to tag-out members of the opposing team. And though the US Olympic Curling Teams have not fared well, in this weekend’s tournament, Obscure Games teams will bring honor back to the US and to Pittsburgh by competing to be named “Human Curling Champions of the World.” More rules for Human Curling can be found on the Obscure Games Rulebook.
You can sign up for this weekend’s tournament below (and you can also bring along up to three friends). If you don’t have a team, no problem. We’ll match you up with some other people at the games. There are a limited number of spots available, but we’ll try to get as many people playing as we can. If you are too late, we’ll put you on a waiting list and let you know by Friday, Feb 26 whether or not there’ll be space for you. That said, sign up only if there you’re really sure you can come, and email us if you find out you can’t.
Oh, and one more thing: we have to pay to rent the gym we play in. So, we’re really appreciate a $5 donation from everybody who is coming to play. Thanks, and see you Sunday!
